2nd jab appointments
Patients who were vaccinated at a local vaccination site or at our practice will be invited by text, phone or letter to make an appointment for their 2nd jab when it is due (11 weeks after their 1st). Patients using the national booking system will be able to book their 1st and 2nd jab appointments.

Update 18.3.21:

Risk of DVT and PE following the Oxford AstraZeneca Covid 19 vaccine
Following the media publications concerning the risks of DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis) and PE (Pulmonary Embolism) following the AZ COVID-19 vaccination, we have received the following from the Senior Pharmaceutical Adviser for the South East London Clinical Commissioning Group:

  • Reports of blood clots received so far are not greater than the number that would have occurred naturally in the vaccinated population.
  • So far across the EU and UK, there have been 15 events of DVT and 22 events of pulmonary embolism reported among those given the vaccine, based on the number of cases the Company has received as of 8 March. This is much lower than would be expected to occur naturally in a general population of this size and is similar across other licensed COVID-19 vaccines.

Update 17.3.21:
Patients who had their 1st vaccinations at Beckenham Beacon will now receive their 2nd vaccination at West Wickham & Shirley Baptist Church CR0 8EH.

We have a permanent site in the West Wickham area offering COVID-19 vaccinations for our patients.

Each of the vaccination sites across the borough of Bromley are run by Primary Care Networks (PCNs) that see GP practices working together in geographic areas to offer vaccinations from central sites. Most PCNs in our local area, including ours, are working with the Bromley GP Alliance to roll out the vaccination programme. For more information about the local COVID-19 vaccination programme visit:

Site Details are as follows:
West Wickham & Shirley Baptist Church, Wickham Road, Shirley, CR0 8EH

Entrance: The way into the vaccination centre is via the sports hall on Monks Orchard Road.

By Bus: Main bus routes that run to the church are the 194, 119 and 356.

By Car: Parking on site is for blue badge holders only. The following roads offer on street parking which are near the site: Wickham Road, Oak Avenue, Monks Orchard Road. All roads are a five-minute walk away from the church.

Please note: Due to a strict social distancing policy and vaccine supply only patients with an appointment will be seen at the vaccine site. Please do not attend the site without a booked appointment.

Often the clinics are given very short notice of vaccine deliveries so please expect to be called at short notice. Invitations are being sent by text, telephone call and letters. Arrangements are also in place for housebound patients to receive their vaccinations at home.

Remember – You WILL be contacted when it’s your turn to be vaccinated.

Please be patient and don’t call the practice as it’s important to leave the lines free for patients requiring medical appointments.

Thank you for your patience.
